A situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones
Example
"She faced a difficult dilemma: accept the demanding job or turn it down to pursue her passion."
Etymology
From Greek dilēmma, from di- 'two' + lēmma 'premise'.
