Gossamer

A fine, flimsy substance consisting of cobwebs spun by small spiders, especially in autumn; something very light, thin, and delicate.

Example

"The bride's veil was made of the finest gossamer, almost invisible against her hair."

Etymology

From Middle English gos summer, perhaps from 'goose summer' (late autumn) when geese are plump and cobwebs are seen.
