Inertia
A tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged; a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.
Example
"Despite the clear evidence, the company's inertia prevented them from adapting to the new market trends."
Etymology
From Latin 'inertia' meaning 'idleness, sluggishness,' from 'iners' meaning 'idle, unskilled,' from 'in-' ('not') + 'ars' ('skill, art').
